Bloke Rods over the past year have been developing a new range of Spey Rods based around an entirely new hybrid Carbon blank made to our specifications. We began designing this rod with the help of Mick Bell, the Founder of Bloke Rods, before he passed away and so in his honour, we've named the rod the Trebuchet MkII MGB.

Here is a short video of the rod in action with Ghilli and FFF Master Casting Instructor Ian Gamble.

Introducing the Trebuchet MkII

Our new rod is lightweight, moderate action and incredibly easy to cast, opening up this rod to any user from beginner to expert.

Utilising top-quality components from Seaguide, including Stainless Steel guides in gold with anti-tangle stripper guides, an aluminium down-locking reel seat with carbon insert and AAAA quality cork grips, this rod not only casts like a dream, but it also looks amazing.

The Trebuchet MkII is supplied in its own high quality cloth bag and cordura tube.

The Rod works extremely well with any of our Spey/Switch lines which can be also be found on this site, the line in the video is THIS LINE in 8/9wt.

    Bloke Trebuchet

Just purchased and had out on the Spey this week. Fantastic British rod with great action. Couldn’t be happier but remains unchristened as yet!

Postage good and received the rod within 48 hours.

Fingers crossed you get your first fish on it soon. Very pleased to read that you like the rod though, that's great, thank you for the review.

Great service and great product at a great price

I used my Bloke Trebuchet MkII MGB for the last three days of the season at Bywell on the Tyne, alongside my Loop 7x, a rod costing three times as much. Same wt, same lines, and it was hard to tell the difference! The Bloke Trebuchet is a little softer in the action, but this was an advantage when casting a heavier fly like a copper tube. Overall, the Bloke Trebuchet punches well above its price point, with nice fittings on a responsive blank with “feeling”. I hope to christen it very soon!
